Design & Thrill

Twenty-five cabins operate every day to take passengers quickly and in comfort to the Matterhorn glacier paradise. But these are no ordinary cable-car cabins. Their design emanates from the house of the renowned sports car designers Pininfarina, known for their work with Maserati and Ferrari. The Symphony cabins made by SIGMA are stylishly sporty and elegant. Twenty-eight leather and Alcantara seats ensure passengers enjoy a comfortable ride. The seats are heated to keep everyone warm in the cold winter months. The first thing you notice as you step aboard are the expansive panoramic windows, which afford spectacular views over the surrounding Alps and glaciers along your journey under the ever-watchful eye of the Matterhorn.

THE LUXURY DOESN’T STOP THERE

Four of the 25 cabins are the so-called Crystal ride cabins, embellished inside and out with thousands of crystals, causing them to glisten in the sunshine like freshly fallen snow. But the real secret of the Crystal ride is only revealed around three minutes into the journey: as soon as you reach the second tower and the Theodul Glacier, the opaque glass floor changes in a matter of seconds to become transparent, exposing the view of the 170-metre drop below – it feels like flying!
